Experimental and Theoretical Study of First Overtone Carbon Monoxide Laser Physics.

Abstract

This report results from a contract tasking P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute as follows: The contractor will investigate the variation of specific input energy, gas density, gas temperature, pump pulse duration, and mixture on the operation of a CO laser operating on the first overtone. A comparison between the experimental and theoretical results will be made. In particular, laser output energy, efficiency, pulse duration and profile, and spectral content will be compared. All experimental and theoretical results will be presented in the final report with suggestions for improving the code and suggestions for further experiments.
