On a Volume Integral Equation Used in Solving 3-D Electromagnetic Interior Scattering Problems

Abstract

For microwave dosimetry an accurate mathematical model of interior scattering in 3-D is needed. Human body is highly inhomogeneous. A formulation of the scattering problem based on a volume integral equation and which addressed inhomogeneity in detail is derived. As a by-product, this work provides credence to a certain heuristically derived formulation.
