Engineering Reliability of Navigation Structures, Supplement No. 1.

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of follow-on studies to an earlier project to develop probability-based methods for assessing the structural reliability of gravity monoliths at navigation locks and dams. In this report supplement, further investigations are made of the effects of several random variables on the reliability index, namely uplift pressure, water levels, wall friction angle, anchor performance, and structural geometry. Analyses are performed for four actual structures, three on the Monongahela River in Pennsylvania and one on the Tombigbee River in Alabama.
