Statistical Mechanics in Physics and Biology. Symposium Held December 2-5, 1996, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Volume 463

Abstract

The concepts of statistical mechanics have long been among the most widely applied of physical ideas. The most notable aspect of the symposium 'Statistical mechanics in Physics and Biology' is the sheer range of subjects, including molecular biology, cellular biology, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, polymer science, and metallurgy, addressed by similar methods. This symposium could not have taken place without the financial support of the Office of Naval Research, Eastman Kodak Company, and Exxon Research and Engineering Company.
