Interim Report on Validation of the Navy Surf Model

Abstract

The upgraded Navy Surf Model is described and extensively validated using data acquired during the National Sediment Transport Study (NSTS), Leadbetter Beach, California, in February 1980 and during the Duck Experiment on Low Frequency and Incident band Longshore and Across shore Hydrodynamics, Duck, North Carolina in October 1990. The accuracy of the model is characterized by root mean square errors and linear correlation and regression analyses of wave height, longshore current, and modified surf index.
