Analysis and Design of the Adsorbent Sample Temperature Control in the Volumetric Isotherm System

Abstract

The propagation of error in the volumetric isotherm apparatus used at Guild Associates, Inc. is discussed as well as modifications to the apparatus to reduce errors. Investigators found that errors in temperature measurement and/or control may affect vapor-phase and adsorbed-phase concentrations in a complex but predictable manner. Changes to the isotherm apparatus to increase the accuracy of temperature measurements and improve the stability of the temperature control are documented.
