Automated Support for Maintenance Technical Manuals

Abstract

The paper describes some aspects elements of technology support for automating the creation maintenance technical information in the form of Technical Orders. The viewpoint is that of a technical data 'author' in a modern defense industry plant. The report includes a breakout of how this person currently allocates his time and effort to the various tasks he has to do, and it gives estimates on how automation support might chang his the workload. The report points out pragmatic changes that might improve the quality and reduce of cost of maintenance technical data through automation support.
