N-300 Equipment for Measuring Feed-Through and other Characteristics of APN-1 Altimeter Antennas

Abstract

A description is given of speciai test equipment and techniques developed for obtaining satisfactory drop-out performance with slot antennas. The measuring equipment consists of a modIfied APN-1 altimeter set and a group of special attenuator pads. r-f cables, and r-f fittings. This equipment will measure the magnitude and path length of all the important signals. and also the feed through attenuation between the two antennas. Bench checks were made with the equipment and the results obtained proved to be accurate enough for all practical purposes.
