Black Rock and Short Beaches, Nahant, Massachusetts Coastal Storm Damage Reduction Study Reconnaissance Report.

Abstract

The coastal storm damage reduction reconnaissance level study was conducted by the New England Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the request of the Town of Nahant, Massachusetts for assistance in controlling coastal flooding in the backshore of Black Rock and Short Beaches, known as the Lowlands Area and located in the northwest part of the town. The study was funded under the Continuing Authority Program under Section 103 of the 1962 River and Harbors Act, as amended, for the purpose of damage reduction from coastal storms. The Reconnaissance Report documented the study that concluded that the formulated plans to control coastal flooding were not economically justified and that there was no opportunity for Corps of Engineers assistance for controlling flooding and reducing damages in the Study Area.
