Active Follow-Up of Participants of a Population-Based Specimen Bank (Plasma, DNA, RBC).

Abstract

The purpose of this proposal was to expand the resources of our existing population-based specimen bank by updating baseline information and obtaining information on breast cancer risk factors so that gene-environment interactions leading to breast cancer may be investigated. I J. From May through November 1989, 32,320 specimens were collected in Washington County, Maryland for a research specimen bank (CLUE II). At the time of blood collection participants gave a brief medical history, completed a food frequency questionnaire and returned a toenail clipping. The purpose of the follow-up study is to expand the resources of the existing population- based specimen bank by updating baseline information and obtaining information on breast cancer risk factors so that gene-environment interactions leading to breast cancer cancer may be investigated.
