Primer on Beam Optics

Abstract

This is a primer on beam optics with emphasis on neutral particle beam (NPB) optical devices. It explains how the motion of charged particles in magnetic and electric fields is calculated and how devices (primarily magnets) are designed, used and combined to make a beam transport system.
