Technology Applications Report 1993

Abstract

The United States is now selling products and services in a global economy that is dynamic, complex, and increasingly competitive. To maintain U.S. prestige as a world-class innovator, American business leaders and entrepreneurs must manufacture the highest quality products at competitive prices. The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) recognizes that one of the most efficient ways to incorporate innovation into the nation's economy is to transfer federal technology - developed by matchless expertise - into American businesses. BMDO's Technology Applications program has been a leader in federal technology transfer for seven years, and to solidify our leadership we recently formed a new partnership with the National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC). Under this agreement, the NTTC will operate the Technology Applications Information System, our on-line database, and provide other technology transfer and commercialization Support, including many of the activities described in this report. Some technologies discussed in this report include: microelectronics, optoelectronics, optics, manufacturing, health, materials, energy and assorted spinoffs.
