NEPA Guide.

Abstract

The purpose of this guide is to provide the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) managers and executing agents with an overview of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, thus allowing BMDO to comply effectively with NEPA. This guide will help Program Managers and Project Integrators to comply effectively with NEPA in accomplishing the BMDO mission. What is NEPA? NEPA became law on January 1, 1970. The Act established national environmental policy and goals for the protection, maintenance, and enhancement of the environment, and it provided a process for implementing these goals within federal agencies. The Act also established the President's Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), whose primary role is oversight of NEPA compliance. The CEQ published Regulations for Implementing the Procedural Provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, parts 1500-1508).
