Abstract

The operation and maintenance, Army appropriation provides for the day-to-day operations of units, schools and power projections platforms, which in combination, support a strategically ready force, a force of decision - the United States Army. This appropriation contributes to readiness by supporting tough, realistic training; providing for improved maintenance of equipment and facilities; and providing the highest possible quality of life for soldiers and their families. Some of the highlights of what the FY 1998/1999 OMA budget supports are the following: (1) Operating tempo (OPTEMPO), (2) Institutional training, (3) Sustainment, (4) Mobilization, (5) Quality of Life, and (6) Facilities.
