Results of a Reconnaissance-Level Geomorphic and Geoarchaeological Inventory of Red Creek, Fort Carson Military Reservation, Colorado

Abstract

In July 1997, reconnaissance level geomorphic and geoarchaeological investigations were conducted along Red Creek within the Fort Carson Military Reservation. The purpose of the research was to identify, correlate, date, and map date Quaternary sediments extant along the creek in order to formulate predictive statements concerning the location of archaeological sites. This was accomplished by a complete geomrphic reconnaissance of the Red Creek Valley and by in depth stratigraphic investigations at four principal study sections.
