A Community Study of Psychological Distress and Immune Function in Women with Family Histories of Breast Cancer

Abstract

To date, 220 women have been recruited for the Naturalistic Study. The data are currently being verified. It is anticipated that during year 4 of the study the data will be analyzed and papers will he submitted for publication and presentation at scientific conferences. To date, 62 women have been recruited for the Experimental Study. In year 4 we will continue recruiting women into the experimental study and expect to have a total of 100 subjects at the end of year. Data entry and data verification will continue and results will be submitted for presentation at scientific conferences and/or submitted for publication. We had anticipated that the present research would he further a long than it is. One of the main reasons for the delay has been that the funding (ACS) supporting the present study ran out this year. However, we were successful in getting funding from NIMH which should allow us to continue and complete both the Naturalistic and the Experimental studies. With the support from this award number 17-94-J-4139 we have published 2 papers, 1 additional paper is in press, and 3 abstracts are published.
