Decision Support Requirements for the Aviation Maintenance Material Control Officer.

Abstract

This thesis evaluates NALCOMIS based upon maintenance management information requirements and highlights how NALCOMIS does not support the Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO ) as an information system. The Automated Maintenance Environment (AME) initiative currently in development will be capable of providing the MMCO with the information needed to improve maintenance management decisions. The overall result will be reduced aircraft lifecycle costs and improved operational availability. A concept of operations at the organizational maintenance level is presented to illustrate the AME concept. The full implementation of AME will have a profound effect on Naval aviation maintenance processes. Recommendations for further research are presented.
