Defense Issues. Volume 13, Number 9. America's Asia-Pacific Security Strategy,

Abstract

Prepared remarks by Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen at the Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies, Singapore, Jan. 15, 1998. The main theme of the talk was that in the wake of the Cold War, many observers doubted America's determination to remain a Pacific power. Their fears are unfounded. The United States is more actively engaged in the Asia-Pacific region than ever before.
