Propagation of a Gaussian-Beam in a Bacteriorhodopsin Fill.

Abstract

Presented is a computational study on the Gaussian-beam propagation in the bio-optical material bacteriorhodopsin with considerations of the material's intensity-dependent absorption and refractive index modulation. The beam focusing size, focusing position, intensity change in the material and their dependence on the incident beam parameters are simulated. Results of the simulation have application to the limits on memory storage in bacteriorhodopsin.
