Evaluation of a Three-Channel High-Temperature Superconducting Magnetometer System

Abstract

This report presents the results of an evaluation of a three channel high temperature superconducting magnetometer sensor which operates at liquid nitrogen temperature. Measurements of sensor white noise levels, low frequency noise, and response to applied magnetic fields were performed in shielded and unshielded environments. The intrinsic noise of the sensor was found to be independent of the ambient environment in which it was operated. Nonhysteretic response to applied magnetic field was limited to a dynamic range of approximately 2 microtesla.
