Abstract

The document classifies the shallow groundwater resources at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, according to Illinois statute 35 IAC 620. A general designation of Class II groundwater is established beneath Fort Sheridan to 49 feet below ground surface (ft-bgs). Where appropriate, the Class II designation extends deeper than 49 ft-bgs based on site specific information (Landfills 6 and 71 or ground elevation (the vicinity of former and existing ravines). The groundwater classification is determined through a comprehensive review and analysis of available information including boring logs, well development and sampling records, slug test results, permeability testing, and grain size analysis of soils.
