Abstract

JA 234 provides an overview of Environmental Law, particularly as it relates to the U.S. Army and the Department of Defense. Chapter 1 addresses the development of the Army's environmental program; funding, compliance, and enforcement issues associated with the program; and the Judge Advocate's environmental role. Chapters II - VII focus on environmental statutes that commonly impact on federal installations; specifically: The National Environmental Policy Act; The Clean Water Act; The Clean Air Act; The Endangered Species Act; The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; and The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
