Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study; UST and AST Site Investigation.

Abstract

ICF Kaiser Engineers (ICF KE) has been contracted by the U.S. Army Environmental Center (USAEC) to perform an investigation and summary of former underground storage tank (UST) sites and existing aboveground storage tanks (AST) sites located at Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant (CHAAP) located near Grand Island,, Nebraska. CHAAP was listed as a site on the National Priorities List (NPL) in 1987. This task is being performed under Contract No. DAAAi5-91.D.0014, Task Order 14. This UST/AST Investigation Report for CHAAP describes the site background, technical approach, and results of investigations that have been completed. The former UST and AST investigations were carried out in accordance with the 1995 CHAAP Rl/FS Technical Plan which was approved by the USEPA Region VII and Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) (USAEC, 1995). In accordance with discussions between USEPA Region VII, NDEQ and the USAEC at CHAAP on July 18,1995, it was agreed by all parties that the Army would present UST and AST investigation related data in a report separate from the Remedial Investigation (RI) Report. All UST and AST reporting and investigations at CHAAP will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the NDEQ and the USEPA Region VII.
