Epidemiological Studies Persian Gulf War Illnesses Persian Gulf Women's Health Linkage Study.

Abstract

The Persian Gulf Women's Health Linkage Study will provide baseline health and risk factor information to estimate the prevalence of selected health conditions, with an emphasis on reproductive health. The research will compare the incidence, prevalence, and general health outcomes and risks of women deployed in the PG theater of operations to a control population of PG-era military women who were not deployed to the theater. Comparisons will be made between exposed subpopulations and other deployed female veteran and civilian populations. The study will also advance methodological understanding of the impact of recall and selection bias among individuals deployed to actual theaters compared to other areas by method of interview (mail--PG; telephone--Vietnam) and validation of adverse events via medical records and DoD records.
