Abstract

JPRS publications contain information primarily from foreign newspapers, periodicals and books, but also from news agency transmissions and broadcasts. Materials from foreign-language sources are translated; those from English-language sources are transcribed or reprinted, with the original phrasing and other characteristics retained. This document contains articles on telecommunications policy, and research and development throughout the world, including Australia, China, Latin America, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, USSR, and Western Europe. Special topics discussed include the Internet, computer vendors, legal information, media, television and radio broadcasting, telecommunications services, cable TV, and political implications of telecommunications.
