Sea Surface Multipath Effects on Ship Radar Radiated Power Determination

Abstract

This report presents an overview of sea surface multipath effects on accurate determination of effective radiated power (ERP) data from ship navigation radars over a 5-20 nautical mile region. The intent is to characterize the various multipath phenomena affecting signal characterization. Data was collected for several hundred ship radars, and various refractivity and multipath programs utilized to model the effect.
