MLTE: An LTE Solver for Diatomic Molecules and Atoms above 6,000 Degrees K

Abstract

An algorithm is presented for calculating the equilibrium distribution of a mixture of atoms, ions, diatomic molecules, molecular ions, and electrons. The technique, which is a generalization of the Saha equation to include molecules, enables evaluation above 6,000 deg K. This is the limit of the NASA Lewis data tables for thermodynamic functions. Finally, the heat capacity of various species are presented up to 20,000 deg K which allows fits to extend standard tabular data.
