A Fracturing of Polygonal Objects

Abstract

This report presents an approach for the fracture of polygonal objects. The technique was developed by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) for real-time display of munitions penetrating urban structures. A weapons effects model and exterior polygon clipper were designed to accomplish this. The algorithm has been successfully implemented as a component of a combat simulator.
