Information Technology Management (ITM) Strategic Plan, Supporting National Defense, (ITM Strategic Plan), Version 1.0

Abstract

The Information Technology Management (ITM) Strategic Plan provides overall Department of Defense (DoD) guidance for managing its information resources. The Plan establishes the DoD shared vision for ITM, top goals and objectives, measures of performance, and strategies to accomplish the goals. The Plan: 1) Links ITM to joint warrior operational needs and mission support needs. 2) Provides the long-term direction for ITM planning. 3) Helps coordinate and integrate ITM activities across functional areas and organizations. 4) Creates capstone mechanisms to systematically manage DoD ITM resources and programs. 5) Complies with provisions of the Clinger-Cohen Amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 1996 that contains the Information Technology Management Reform Act of 1996 (ITMRA).
