Space Systems Environmental Interaction Studies

Abstract

Final testing, calibration and delivery of a new Digital Ion Drift Meter (DIDM) instrument occurred under Task 1 of this contract. Final details of the software effort which went into the work is reported. Some of the findings from the instrument characterization effort funded under phase 2 of Task 1, are also shown. Phase 3 work is concerned with providing a DIDM-2 instrument for the CHAMP program. Instrument particulars and program details are provided. On-going data analysis efforts contracted under Task 2, regarding the SPREE and OEDIPUS-C data sets is also reported. A detailed report on the software analysis tool developed for the work is presented. Under Task 3 (the Langmuir Turbulence LaTUR) rocket investigation program) hardware design and software programming efforts are well underway. Details on the Data Processing Unit of the Energetic Particle Instrument (EPI) suite to be flown, are provided.
