A Vision of Theater Air Defense Battle Management Command and Control in 2010

Abstract

This documented briefing was prepared as an input to the evolving service and joint debate over the nature of future theater air defense (TAD) operations. The debate concerning battle management and command and control (C2) is coordinated by the TAD C2 CONOPS Panel, under the authority of the Executive Agent for TAD battle management command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (BMC4I). This briefing responds to a specific request for inputs by the Executive Agent. TAD project research is conducted in the Force Modernization and Employment Program within RAND's Project AIR FORCE. This briefing should be of interest to anyone concerned with theater air defense and command and control issues.
