JPRS contain information primarily from foreign newspapers, periodicals and books, but also from news agency transmissions and broadcasts. Materials from foreign-language sources are translated; those from English-language sources are translated or reprinted, with the original phrasing and other characteristics retained. This document contains articles on science and technology in Europe and Latin America. Some topics discussed are advanced materials, aerospace, biotechnology, civil aviation, computers, lasers, sensors and optics, microelectronics, scientific and industrial policy, and technology transfer.
