Calculation of the Internal and External Risk of Stored Ammunition and Explosives by Means of the Computer Model RISKANAL

Abstract

This report gives a description of the structure and contents of RISKANAL, a computer program developed at the TNO Prins Maurits Laboratory, The Netherlands. It can also be used as a manual for RISKANAL. The internal and external risks involved in storing explosives can be calculated with RISKANAL. The program uses the quantity distances according to the NATO AC/258 recommendations and the probit functions as given in the Dutch Green Book. The final result of the program is the average number of lethalities to be expected if a magazine on a complex should accidentally explode. With these figures, it can be decided wether a situation is acceptable or not by including the probability of an accidental explosion.
