Windblast Protection: Wind Tunnel Evaluation of Concepts for Crewmember Protection

Abstract

The performance capability of emergency ejection seats is limited at high speeds by the occurrence of windblast injuries rather than the maximum qualification test speed that is commonly cited. Serious injuries may occur at relatively low airspeeds.
