Optical Random Access Memory

Abstract

Our analyses of potential performance and cost structure during Phase I have been very positive. Based on these analysis, we believe that we can build a device that has an enormous performance advantage relative to magnetic storage media with a cost per GByte that is significantly below the cost per GByte of semiconductor DRAM. We were very encouraged by these results and have rapidly moved beyond the paper-based analyses to design and construction of an initial laboratory-demonstration unit, which we had originally planned to begin during Phase II.
