Estimation of Response Times for Fire Fighting Personnel on a Naval Vessel

Abstract

Times required for personnel to complete a range of simple movement tasks were measured on board a Type 12 Destroyer Escort, HMAS Derwent. Data were collected from observation of the crew going about their normal sea duties and movement of Aeronautical and Maritime Research Laboratory (AMRL) staff. These times can be used to give an estimate of the movement time of fire fighters during a fire incident at sea.
