Advanced Cooling for High Power Electric Actuators.

Abstract

The development of more electric technologies for future military aircraft promises to provide significant redundancy reliability maintainability, and performance benefits. Advanced Cooling For High Power Electric Actuators particularly address the use of electro-mechanical actuators (EMAs), and an approach for cooling EMAs using the combined concepts of passive reflux cooling and phase change materials (POMs) for energy storage. This report presents results from tests on a motor cooler, and on two different motor drive coolers.
