Real-Time Image Subtraction Using a Double-Phase Conjugate Mirror

Abstract

A method has been demonstrated by holographic interference in photorefractive media for real-time image subtraction requiring only a single pass through an aberrating medium. Image enhancement by passing the conjugate beam back through the aberration (double pass) has been previously demonstrated. For various applications, a single pass is required. The theory and experiments for double- and single-pass arrangements are presented.
