Adding Data Accessibility and Rule-Based Targeted Data Collection to the California Cancer Reporting System for Breast Cases
Abstract
We have placed two innovative cancer information resources on the World Wide Web (www.askcnet.org). In our Cancer Data Query site, we provide public access to California and NCI SEER cancer case information, allowing anyone on the Web to propose data queries and receive tables of counts from their query. Information available on our web site include: - Cancer types, stages, and treatment for all California cancer cases diagnosed 1988-1993 (N=780,804) - Preliminary results of 1995 study fields on cancer screening, protocol use, and clinical indicators - SEERs 10% of national cancer cases 1973-1993 (N^2 million) We also have completed our Clinical Trials Matching System, allowing the general public and healthcare professionals to obtain consumer-oriented summaries of current IRB-approved clinical trials that specifically match the requested patient characteristics. Analysis is provided of the age, stage, and previous treatment characteristics of the requests.
