Prospects for a Naval Service Operational Concept.

Abstract

While complementary in nature, Forward...from the Sea, The Navy Operational Concept and Operational Maneuver from the Sea are different enough to warrant separate concept statements vice being melded into a single Naval Service Operational Concept. Additionally, both of these concepts are complementary with and supportive of the tenets of Joint Vision 2010. However, the Navy and Marine Corps concepts do exhibit vulnerabilities in that they are highly leveraged by anticipated advances in weapons and information technologies. Additionally, they fail to provide a proper emphasis on the development of force employment concepts for military operations other than war.
