Project Status Reports; The Upper Midwest Gap Analysis Program

Abstract

Upper Midwest Gap Analysis Program Objectives. The objectives are as follow: Develop a multi-state, multi-institutional, cooperative approach toward the generation and use of basin-wide landscape data in the Upper Midwest. Map the existing land cover of the Upper Midwest using uniform standards and protocols, with a minimum mapping unit of not less than 2 hectares. Produce maps showing the predicted distributions of native bird, mammal, reptile, and amphibian species in the Upper Midwest. Map the boundaries of all public lands in the Upper Midwest. Develop a long-term institutional framework for the maintenance, distribution, and updating of basin-wide landscape information.
