Notch4 Ligands in Mammary Gland Development and Tumorigenesis.

Abstract

To identify and characterize Notch4 ligand, we have obtained several candidate genes and are in the process of testing these genes for their ability to interact with and activate Notch4 receptor. We are trying to determine the locations where Notch4 and its candidate ligands are expressed by immunohistochemistry approach. A luciferase assay based system has been developed to allow fast and quantitative identification of Notch4 ligands. Our preliminary data also indicate that the activation of a Notch receptor can regulate the expression level of itself and other Notch receptors and ligands.
