Evolution of the G-3 Function at Division Level From 1917 to 1945

Abstract

This thesis traces the development of the G-3 (Operations) function at division level from 1917 through 1945. Reference is made to other general and special staff sections only when necessary to fully describe the operations function. Doctrine and practices are compared and the changes in function correlated with major events and changes in organization and doctrine.
