Laser With Wavelength 0.589 Micrometers ("Sodium Wavelength Laser")

Abstract

This report results from a contract tasking General Physics Institute as follows: The contractor will investigate non-thermal lens formation in LiF:F2-lasers and, based on an understanding of that lens formation process, develop a concept for a laser, including the pump source and the resonator, for producing 10 to 40 watts of power at 589 nm.
