Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support - Wholesale Program.

Abstract

This audit was requested by the Deputy Commander, Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, concerning allegations made by a complainant about improprieties in the management of the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support - Wholesale (DMLSS-W) program. The DMLSS-W program is designed to improve medical logistics business practices in DoD by achieving significant savings in wholesale and retail medical organizations through the reduction of cost of contract payment and processing, hospital inventories, information technology, operations and maintenance of existing systems, and personnel. For FY 199?, funding for the program at the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia was about $8.5 million. The development of the DMLSS-W program required a substantial amount of contractual support services for automated information technology. The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia entered into an agreement with the General Services Administration, Federal Systems Integration and Management Center, Falls Church, Virginia, to provide contractual support services for the DMLSS-W program.
