COMINT Audio Interface

Abstract

This document represents the results of the COMINT Audio Interface study. The objective was to investigate 3-dimensional audio technology for application in the military linguist's work environment. Demonstrations conducted under this effort concluded that 3D audio localization techniques on their own have not been developed to the point where they achieve the fidelity necessary for the military work environment. Recommended areas for additional research in human audition, acoustic environment simulators, and invidualized Head Related Transfer Function filters were defined.
