Draft Environmental Impact Statement. Disposal and Reuse of Naval Station Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York

Abstract

The U.S. Department of the Navy plans to dispose of Naval Station (NAVSTA) Brooklyn, located in Brooklyn, New York. The NAVSTA Brooklyn site consists of about 28.8 acres (11.7 hectares) and is adjacent to the former Brooklyn Naval Shipyard, which was excessed by the Navy in 1966. This EIS considers the potential effects of the disposal and reuse of NAVSTA Brooklyn by the local Reuse Authority (the City of New York) in accordance with their reuse plan. In addition, the potential effects of three other action alternatives and the no action alternative are examined.
