NEXGENBUS Initial Mode Results

Abstract

The current DoD policy for Acquisition Reform uses Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products whenever possible to avoid development costs of new systems acquisition. The Next Generation Instrumentation Bus (NexGenBus) project is currently evaluating commercial standards for a high speed instrumentation bus standard. These commercial standards need to be tested, evaluated, and possibly changed based on the application. Adapting a commercial standard to make it usable for a specific application (e.g., test instrumentation) requires that the standard be evaluated and tested to ensure compliance and that a nonconforming variation to the standard is not created.
