Evaluation Report on Management Controls at the Disbursing Office, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, Virginia.

Abstract

On September 19, 1996, the Defense Criminal Investigative Service requested assistance from the Assistant Inspector General for Auditing, DoD, in an investigation at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, Virginia. The investigation was initiated due to a potential loss over $140,000 at the Dahlgren Disbursing Office. This report gives the results of our review of the management controls used for cash management at the Disbursing Office. The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Cleveland Center, Cleveland, Ohio, had oversight responsibility for the Dahlgren Disbursing Office.
