The Investigation of Structural Members Under Combined Axial and Transverse Loads. Section 1. Air Service Information Circular, Volume 5, Number 493.

Abstract

Historical study that provides a "satisfactory" method of computing the stresses in such members of an airplace structure as are subjected to combined axial and transverse. The purpose of the investigation was to make a comparative study of a number of approximate methods for the design of members under combined loads to ascertain their relative degrees of conservatism and ease of application.
